Day 3: The Clockwise Boat Trip
Our third day in the Lake District found us taking a second tour of Derwent Water by boat, this time in the clockwise direction, to give us a clearer idea of the various landing points.
By this time, we’d discovered a better route from the B & B to the lake, avoiding the town centre and taking us across a couple of fields direct to the lakeside.

Doing Derwent Water a second time in the opposite direction is such a sensible idea — you notice completely different things, and it sorts out in your head where all the landing stages actually are. And finding the field route from the B&B that skips the town centre is the kind of small discovery that quietly improves a whole trip.

Thank you, travellingtaylors. My wife and I have been ‘explorers’ when walking for around 40 years now. It is sometimes quite surprising what you discover by turning left instead of right, or vice versa!
