How Goes the WIP, 29th April?

Just to update you, I last posted about the WIP on 7th April. At that time, the word count was at 62,531, it has now reached 77,854, following a short break away from home and the computer. In the meantime, I’ve also produced a few short pieces on Oddities Observed and on places visited on A Short Visit to Wiltshire. Those will continue over the next few days.

I’m still enjoying the creative process of making a story, though as is quite usual for a writer working in pantster mode, it’s taken some unexpected turns. It remains on the right road toward the intended destination, however.

I’m close to completing the first draft. After that will come the addition of some details I’ll take from my extensive research and then the long, and creatively satisfying, job of editing begins. That generally takes at least as long as the initial creation, as there are many places where rewriting will be needed. But it’s all part of the wonderful way in which a book comes to life.
I’ll keep you updated as the words allow.

    1. Thanks, Lynette. I’ve been going through one of those periods that accompany the aging process, where a number of standard, important, but unthreatening medical appointments have broken several days in a row. Irritating but necessary. Hopefully, the last couple will be the end of that for a few months! Then I’ll be abler to spend a little more time and attention on the work, eh?
