Which way will we wander
through tracks twisting
rambling rough routes
stepping sinuous switchback
pacing pinched pathway?

Our world is full of natural wonders. But some people ignore such beauty, some actively dislike it, and work to destroy the only world we’re able to inhabit.
These daily posts of words and pictures are my encouragement of joy in nature, hoping others may be inspired to share their appreciation of a planet that’s a marvel of unlikely coincidences.
We might be alone in the universe as a living species with sentience, but, equally, we might not. Regardless, we’re unlikely to meet, or even effectively communicate with, other existing sentient lifeforms, because the distances in time and space involved are so vast.
So, we must live as though we represent the only life form conscious of our existence and able to modify our environment. Whether we do that to benefit all life forms, or entirely selfishly in the mistaken and ultimately self-destructive belief we’re apart from nature, is a personal choice. History, science, and common sense demonstrate daily how intricately we’re part of nature. It seems foolish and self-defeating to ignore this simple fact.
If you feel we should spread joy in our wonderful planet and our responsibility to protect it, perhaps you’ll share these posts on social media (‘share’ buttons below make that simple), comment with your thoughts, and help us as a species do the best we can to sustain our environment for the future. Earth is our only home. Will you help preserve it? Thank you.

If you’d like to see more of my pictures, some appear in the Gallery.
Or, if you’re looking for images to use for book covers, calendars, greetings cards, jigsaws, advertising, or anything else you fancy in print or online, or to order as art quality prints to decorate a room, you can search over 2000 of my pictures here. The small charge helps me maintain and buy the expensive equipment and software quality digital photography requires.
I very much your poem.

Indeed, there are, Noelle. And it’s not the only place in the forest where such choices occur.
