Pictures to inspire words and images. Perhaps a poem, painting, story, play, novel, drawing, memoire, essay, sculpture, or a new photograph? Up to you. Or just enjoy the pictures. My images are untitled to avoid direction. But, if you want it, the title, not always helpful, is here.

Quite inspirational. Certainly not terrifically functional anymore.

The Greek Islands are home to many earthquakes, Noelle, so many buildings have been damaged over the centuries, and they generally lack the funds to repair properly, so I guess it’s now in their nature to just let things be.

Great photo. How many times have these shutters been opened and closed? There’s still such beauty in them, and yes, fodder for the imagination.

Thanks, Lynette. There’s often great charm about rural dilapidation, isn’t there? This particular building was on the edge of a farm, so probably used as a store now, but I wonder what it was originally used for.

This is the strangest door you have ever posted. At least they didn’t put a massive lock to keep it secure. The faded blue paint is set off by the unique finish of the side of the building?

Not a door, but wooden shutters over a window that no longer appears to have any glass, Brenda. Yes, I too, liked the contrast of the different textures and colours. But what lies behind those shutters?
