#writingprompt and #PictureOfTheDay: 19/Oct/21

Pictures to inspire you to create with words or images. Poem, story, play, novel, memory, essay, painting, drawing, sculpture, or another photograph? Up to you. You can, of course, simply enjoy the pictures. My image is untitled to avoid directing you. But the title, sometimes not helpful, is here.

If you use the prompt, you can post a link to your work, or the work itself, in the comments section, if you want. Please credit me by linking to this post, to allow more people to see both our creations.

Have fun and get those creative juices flowing.

Sometimes, I’ll include my writing inspired by the image.

        1. There are some lovely examples all along the banks. But most of the river valley is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which gives it some protection from development and over farming.

            1. As safe as anything is with our current government, Joni. They’re a self-centred lot only interested in making a profit, so fingers crossed they’ll get voted out next election.

    1. In the summer, Brenda, some people swim across to that little island and sunbathe there. In winter, it’s generally more or less under the water. Herons, swans and ducks often gather under those trees.

    1. Well spotted, Lynette. It’s beautiful most of the time, but just occasionally it bursts its banks when heavy rains fall on the Brecon Beacons in Wales, which it flows through.

    1. Thanks, girl with camera. I’m fortunate to live at a spot that merges with the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in south west England. This was shot at the end of the village where live.

    1. How wonderful when new eyes view a scene familiar to the photographer. I can see why you see it as a flooded roadway, Thattamma, but it’s actually a river with a small island of silt growing in the middle. It flows past the end of our village and, in summer, people swim there and others canoe down it.
