Virus or pest?

The tear is just wind damage, Noelle. But the orange spots are probably viral. We ran into to a couple of forestry workers on yesterday’s walk. They were marking trees in orange in preparation for felling (It’s a working forest, so we expect trees to be felled for timber). We learned there are currently at least four viral threats to the trees here; ash die back, a bug destroying the larch, another beetle doing the same to pines, and a strange disease called ‘sudden oak death’! Much of this is almost certainly a result of climate change. When they cut the marked trees, a few of our favourite walks will be very different, but it’s work that has to be done, so we’ll find new routes.

Yes, I’m like those leaves, too. A bit ragged around the edges!

This is a little close to home. At my age, I feel a lot like those leaves. Still brightly colored but showing my age a little more every day! LOL The color and clarity are remarkable. Thanks for posting.

It was what attracted me to this particular pair, Brenda. Like me, a bit spotty and ragged around the edges!
