Now is that were in Maine, there would be fiddleheads growing beside the stream and plump trout hiding from my hook! Such a lovely place to relax and enjoy. Thanks for the memories.

It’s probably a little small for our famous brown and rainbow trout, Brenda. In fact, I’ve never seen any fish in it. However, this is the stream that runs through the beaver enclosure, and this shot is the outflow following some heavy rain. Normally, the water is clear, as the beaver’s dams filter out the sediment. But the heavy rain had stirred up a little more mud from the banks after it left their hydrological works. The hope is that, as the years go by, the area’s ecology will change and we will eventually get fish back in the river, and, with luck some of the brilliant kingfishers to feed on them!

Moving water has always attracted me, Sowmya. I’ll post more of this type over the coming months.

Thanks, Lynette. And it makes a lovely babbling chatter as you walk beside it!

Tempting. But you’d need something to protect your feet, Noelle. The bed of the stream is very rocky! But, further downstream there’s a nice pool the local kids have formed by damning the flow with fallen branches. Quite deep and possibly capable of allowing a short dip.
