Today’s Pictures: 21 Dec 20 Winter Solstice

A small stream snakes through the fallen leaves in the forest.

Share this post widely on social media and it will let those who are stuck indoors, due to Covid 19, enjoy it. It’ll also reach more people and, hopefully, show them the wonderful place our world is. With luck, between us, we’ll restore some love and respect for nature and slow down the damage to our environment. Thank you.

  1. I don’t know how you did it, but you took a picture that I described in one of my recent stories. When I saw it, I recalled that I wrote:

“After kneeling to tighten my laces, I did a few stretches—getting older sucks—and started up the path. The first section of the Ridge trail is wide and hard-packed. Most people go to the first lookout, take a few pictures, and head back. It is a stunning view. The trees stretch upward, providing a decent amount of shade, while letting in magnificent shafts of light that give the forest a surreal quality.”

    1. It’s great when creative works support each other, eh, Leon?
The track cuts along the side of a natural slope, with a small stream at the bottom and a densely-treed plateau up at the top. I was fortunate to be walking here when the the sunlight highlighted the brief mist created by the stream in the valley below.

  3. Oh I love your poem and your beautiful photographs Stuart. What a gorgeous shot of the sun beaming in to kiss the beautiful forest. On the way to grocery store, hoping everyone will be wearing their mask. Love and hugs to you two. 🤗💕❤️🦋Joni
