Today’s Pictures: 9 Dec 20

A narrow track runs through birch trees above a slope in the Forest of Dean.

Sharing this post widely on social media will allow those who are stuck indoors, due to Covid 19, to enjoy it. It will also reach more people and, hopefully, illustrate what a wonderful place our world is. With luck, between us, we might restore love and respect for nature and slow down the destructive urge to ruin our environment. Thank you.

    1. Unfortunately, our ash trees are rapidly declining in numbers, due to ash dieback, Noelle. This particular tree is one of a number of young beeches that have grown too tall due to surrounding birches and have bent a little too far forward in search of sunlight. Most of them survive, and even thrive, but a few eventually submit to gravity and their elegant arches then become logs to be stepped over. They form useful barriers then to the few aggressive bikers!

    1. Thanks, Brenda. Your reblog worked, anyway. And thank you for that. No idea why WordPress should have any prejudice against your email address. Very occasionally, I’ve had the same happen to me on odd sites. I usually put it down to the vagaries of technology!
