Today’s Pictures: 27 July 20

The hidden gate, in the Forest of Dean

If you’re stuck indoors and unable to get out to enjoy nature at present, this series is for you. I’m trying to brighten the days by posting pictures of natural beauty.

River Swale waterfalls in Richmond in the Yorkshire Dales. The brown colour comes from peat bogs high in the hills.

If, on the other hand, you’re lucky enough to be free, maybe you’ll do what you can for those less fortunate, and share this widely, so others can enjoy it? Thank you.

    1. That little gate is only accessible because Valerie spent a good two hours removing nettles, brambles and bindweed from it around two years ago! At that point, you couldn’t open it, Joni. This shot was taken this July, following a pretty steep climb, and was followed by a walk through the gate and across the hillside field, where llamas now graze in large pens.

                1. 50C! Too darned hot for me. Mind you, Valerie is a ‘fur coat in the Sahara’ person, so she’d be fine with it. We’re expecting 24C here today and maybe 29C tomorrow. Just come in from the garden. Why is it when hard work is needed in the garden, the temperatures soar?
