Progress on the WIP: #SciFi in the Making.

Book 2 of the Generation Mars series now stands at 103,321 words, which is an increase of 9867 on last week’s figure. The novel continues to go well, in spite of a few impediments to progress.

I thought I’d have the first draft completed by now. However, along with constant new developments in science and events surrounding the red planet, further new moves were put in place by my cast of characters. An unruly lot, with their own plans and wishes, I tend to go with them. Fighting them makes the story less character driven. With luck, events and the judgment of my players will allow me to complete the first draft soon! Watch this space.

You’ve read the first in the series, Blood Red Dust, of course, so you’ll be ready for this second book when it appears, later this year, I hope!

Thanks to those readers who’ve already penned reviews on the publisher’s site, Fantastic Books Publishing, Goodreads, and Amazon, recording their impressions to help new readers. Such efforts really do increase interest and exposure for books in an overcrowded market.

You can buy Blood Red Dust direct from the publisher by clicking here.

Or, you can obtain a copy through your usual retailer. You can also access it through your local Amazon by clicking this link.

To those who visit this blog for the ‘Best Words’ posts, my apologies. For reasons I’m completely at a loss to explain, I missed the post last week. But there will be one this week.

  1. The next hundred years, Noelle? Well, if we manage to make it and don’t cause climatic chaos with our over consumption, I think we’re in for a pretty exciting time. So many developments that could make a huge difference to the quality of life for all. Whether that’s the route we’ll travel largely depends on our political leaders, Big Business and the education level of the various electorates around the world.

    1. Thanks, Noelle.
Close to the close of first draft now. Added another 2,100 words this morning and about to do some more, since the weather won’t allow me in the garden to finish work on the new fence!
Everyday, I come across new research regarding the red planet. I keep the links and will read it all in detail before I start the editing process. Amazing how quickly things can change in relation to our near neighbour planets!

      1. Things ARE happening quickly with regard to our future space exploration. I was happy to hear we may be back on the moon soon. I have a friend who is writing a book about harvesting ores from asteroids and I keep finding stuff to send him about materials that block cosmic rays, asteroids etc. What will the next 100 years bring?
