Halloween: Time For A Tale Of Terror!

It’s that time of the year again. Time to bring a spot of horror to the coming night of terrors, eh?

‘Julie, dressed just for summer fun, is coerced by controlling fiancé Kasim to visit her ancient Aunt Agatha at her isolated old manor house. Local rumours inform him the Folly in the grounds holds great treasure, so he secretly plans to kill the aunt and allow Julie to inherit her great wealth to get him out of debt.

Agatha quickly recognises Kasim’s intentions and tricks the greedy gold-digger into visiting the Folly through the hidden tunnel she found in her youth. By candlelight, the pair follow her into the tall structure where they find Agatha is not as feeble or simple as they thought.

Locked in as darkness gathers, the two come across ghastly evidence of a past murder just as their candles burn out, leaving them imprisoned with a corpse Agatha tells them, through the locked door, is bent on avenging his murder.’

Review extracts:
Linda Acaster: ‘If two’s company, then three must be… an outcome waiting to happen. The point is, didn’t there used to be four? Stuart Aken’s prose rattles along, painting in the backdrop and subtext as it goes.’

Retriever470: ‘Just when you think you have a handle on what is happening and what will eventually happen, Stuart Aken sends the story in a different direction. If you like your prose lean but full of flavour, then this story is perfect for you.’
