This continuing series of posts depicts our beautiful world, encouraging people to share them and maybe even help save our unique home planet from human carelessness and indifference.
Today’s photo was taken in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, from a walk near Conistone, looking toward Kilnsey Cragg. The area is a beautiful place for walks. Mostly farmland on the flatter areas between the hills, where sheep graze, the land is crossed by many marked public footpaths. Kilnsey Cragg is noted as a place for climbers, at 180 feet with a massive overhang, it looks a real challenge. It is also part of the fell race held each Kilnsey Show (usually around the August Bank Holiday dates). It’s said the applause for the first runner home is a match for many Olympic events, but you’d have to be there to know for sure!

Those hills are a beautiful sight, Stuart. I agree, a walk with a picnic stop would be wonderful.

When we lived in the area, we used to picnic quite often, especially as our daughter was a youngster then. She’s 32 now, and living in Australia!

Aye, lass, it’s a raight grand place fer a picnic! (sorry, slipped into the Yorkshire accent for a moment there).
It’s great walking country, and there are plenty of pubs still serving food, but a picnic out on those hills is definitely worth the effort.
