This continuing series of posts depicts our beautiful world, encouraging people to share them and maybe help save our unique home planet from human carelessness and indifference.
Today’s photo was taken from the extensive British Camp Hill Fort on the Malvern Hills, some of which can be seen in the background.
The Hill Fort is thought to be Bronze Age, and about 3,500 years old. There’s some interesting information on its history here.
We were there on a fairly windy day in our first July in the region, having taken an exploratory run out to find new places to walk. There’s a good car park giving access and, there are public toilets just opposite the entrance to the car park.
It’s a pleasant spot to wander, with wide-ranging views over the local countryside, which is green and much forested with patches of arable farmland and small villages. Definitely worth a visit.

Such a beautiful photo, Stuart. I looked at the link information on the hill fort – an interesting little read.

The country has something like 4,000 of these ancient monuments scattered across its landscape. Some have been ploughed over, some have been built on, but many remain as visible evidence of our long past here, Lynette. We both love to explore them.

So beautiful and serene, I just sighed imagining myself there!

Thanks, Noelle. Good to know your writer’s imagination is operating well. It’s great how we can absorb so much atmosphere simply from a picture, eh?

Indeed. I try to put myself right into photos and pictures I like!

As I look again at pictures I’ve taken, I find I can feel the wind, hear the sounds. This one was taken nearly 10 years ago, yet my impressions from it remain as clear as when it was shot. That combination of the writer’s and the photographer’s imaginations is a gift I hope I never lose. You, clearly, also carry it.
