The first post about the new novel’s progress can be found here.
I started actually writing, following a year of research, last Sunday. At the end of today, I’ve achieved a total of 20,293 words and am currently working on Chapter 8. It’s going well. Despite the extensive research, I’ve still had to break off a couple of times to find relevant information relating to a specific period, but that’s only taken a few minutes on each occasion, so the lengthy research appears to be paying off.
I’ll try to keep you informed of progress each Sunday. Though whether I’ll have managed so many words on the next occasion remains to be seen!

Nice office, Stuart. You have already achieved a lot of progress; I wish you continued success!

Thanks, Lynette. Now there’s just the two of us here, it made sense to use the small box room for my study. Valerie has to use space in our bedroom for her family tree research. On, now, with the day’s various tasks!

Stuart, your office looks so neat and clean. I am ashamed of mine – it’s a disaster with piked books, critiques and crumbs!

From time time, Noelle, I have to have a clear out, as I tend to put things down to ‘deal with some other time’ and then, of course, something more appealing gets done instead. What you can’t see in the photograph is what’s piled on the floor!

Wow, impressive amount of progress in a week, Stuart, you must have been champing at the bit! Good luck with its continuation 🙂

It’s been inside my head throughout the research period, Penny, so it’s eager to escape those confines and be allowed to run onto the paper (well, the screen, anyway!). Thank you.

It’s great when that compulsion takes over. Long may it last.
