The Deadly Reckonings, by: Rebecca Heap & Victoria Heap. #BookReview.

A story employing themes of injustice, bullying, courage, the overwhelmingly destructive nature of power, prejudice, and the joys, pains, and potency of love. The Deadly Reckonings, although a complete story in itself, is clearly the first of a series set in this imagined world with its population of characters that merge humanity with animalistic properties.
A wide range of emotions informs the story, allowing the reader to live with the protagonists as they struggle to survive within the strange, biased, unjust rules of their world. Descriptions of people and places give enough detail to allow the reader to see the characters and locations without impeding the narrative.
There are elements of romance here, touches of spirituality, and a great deal of well-presented action.  I was engaged throughout, and although the denouement was hard to take, it was the inevitable conclusion to this part of the story. A very good read.
