A gate into the forest? It’s locked so irresponsible owners of four-wheel Chelsea tractors cannot easily enter the trees to destroy the peace, disturb the wildlife, and damage the environment in the name of ‘fun’. Access is needed, of course, for those who manage the forest for the good of the local community, the environment, and the world as a whole. We do, also, welcome city dwellers who understand the delicate nature of the rural landscape and appreciate the peace and quiet of the natural world.

From the end of May, I’ll be posting a picture just once a week. Books and writing have taken a back seat for too long. I started this daily series when Covid confined people to their homes, unable to enjoy nature. It’s time to return to my writing and a project my publisher is sponsoring. More of that in a few days or so. If you want to spread joy, respect, and responsibility for our wonderful planet, please share these posts on social media (the ‘share’ buttons below help), comment with your thoughts, and help sustain our environment for the future. Thank you. Earth is our only home.

More pictures appear in the Gallery.
And you can view over 2000 of my images for book covers, calendars, greetings cards, jigsaws, advertising, or whatever you fancy online, or as art quality prints to decorate a room.
The small fee covers costs and helps me maintain and buy equipment and software quality digital photography demands. I dislike exclusivity and prefer everyone to be able to afford my work.

I’m not sure that developers have opposable thumbs.

The property developers here COULD have put up a gate to prevent off-roads from wrecking our pasture, but instead, they tore down the old and lovely arched stone bridge over the creek on the trail to the meadow. I’m still furious and as soon as we take over this place, a foot path is going back in!

And the worst part is the gate option would probably have cost them less! Some decisions beggar belief, don’t they, Noelle?
