We live in a world full of natural wonders. But some people either have no appreciation of natural beauty, or actively dislike it, and look to destroy the only world we can inhabit.
These daily posts of words and pictures are my small contribution to encouraging enjoyment of nature, in the hope others may be inspired to share their own appreciation of a planet that’s a marvel of unlikely coincidences.
We might be alone in the universe as a living species with sentience, but, equally, we might not. However, we’re unlikely to meet, or even effectively communicate with, any other existing sentient lifeforms, because of the vast distances in time and space inevitably involved.
So, we must live as though we represent the only life form conscious of our existence and able to modify our environment. Whether we do that for the benefit of all life forms, or entirely selfishly in the mistaken and ultimately disastrous belief that we’re apart from nature, is a personal choice. History, science, and simple common sense demonstrate daily how intricately we’re part of nature. It seems foolish and self-defeating to ignore this simple fact.
If you feel we should spread the joy in our wonderful planet and our responsibility to protect it, perhaps you’ll share these posts on social media (‘share’ buttons below make that easy), comment with your thoughts, and help us as a species to do the best we can to sustain our environment for the future. Earth is the only home we have. Will you help preserve it? Thank you.

Today’s picture was taken on the River Wye as it passes through the Welsh village of Tintern Parva. I was attracted by the way sunlight contrasted the willow tree against the background forest on a hill already in the shade of the setting sun.

Great picture and that tree, I can’t stop looking at it. I’m sure it has seen a lot.

I was fortunate to be crossing a bridge over the river just as the sun emerged from behind the clouds, Barbara. A bit of serendipity!

This one was taken a few years ago, when we stayed in the village as a celebration of Valerie’s birthday, Noelle. Lovely place with a few great walks, so we’ll probably return one day.
