Yes, Lynette. This is one of the larch plantations. Part of it is due for cutting soon, but on the top of the hill to the right is a large area dominated by oaks, and the policy these days is toward mixed planting, as the Forestry Commission has realised monoculture is not a good idea due to species pests and the lack of wildlife it can encourage.

The Forest of Dean, Wryter. It’s on my doorstep, so I walk there nearly every day! A place of beauty, calm, and continual change.
