Pictures to inspire words and images. Poem, painting, story, play, novel, drawing, memoire, essay, sculpture, or a new photograph? Up to you. Or simply enjoy the pictures. My image is untitled to avoid guidance. But, if you want it, the title, not always helpful, is here.
Using the prompt? Post a link to your work, or the work itself, in the comments section, if you wish. If you post elsewhere, please link to this post, so more people see both our creations.
Have fun and get those creative juices flowing.
Occasionally, inspired by the image, I’ll write here:
Swift Runs the Flow
Streaming over rocks
confined within mild walls
driven down by a force
incomprehensible
but ever present
wearing away its own
underlying support surface
ever powered by history
and laws of physics
to find its lowest point
where it must merge
with greater waters
flowing further
mixing down
ever down
to that eventual
solution
that is the sea

Lovely words! I’d like to soak my hot and sore feet in this brook after a long walk!

Further upstream, Noelle, there’s a small pool the local kids have made by damming the top of a small fall. One of the parents has installed a sturdy rope swing, too. We rarely meet any of the children, but have heard them splashing and calling out in excitement on hot days.

Thank you, Lynette. We were recently back in my home county of Yorkshire, where I had opportunity to picture some more waterways, some of which will appear in this series in the future.

Your poem said it all! I can hear the rush of water over the rocks and shaded by the trees. Wonderfully serene, a good time to just be.
