Today’s Pictures: 10 July 20

A small waterfall in the hill forests on the Greek Island of Thassos. Taken July 2015

All over our wonderful world there are people who can’t get out and enjoy nature just now. Here, I’m trying to brighten the days for them by posting pictures of natural beauty.

From Pan Tod Beacon, looking toward the Malvern Hills.

If you get pleasure from this, please share it as widely as you can, so others can enjoy it, too. Thank you.

  1. Stuart these are truly beautiful. The second photograph looks like a quilt, so lovely all the greens in the valley. I actually thought the first photo was close by where you lived at first, so I was thinking hum, holding back on one of your secret discoveries that you were keeping as special for your and your wife. What a beautiful spot. Hope you are having a great day my friend and that you and your honey are still able to enjoy all your places without too many other folks around. We are pretty much in lock down mode again so we are talking walks, it is in the high 80’s and low 90’s so I can do about 6,000 steps in the heat but that is the extent of it for me. Well wishes and blessings to you and your wife my friend. Love Joni

    1. Thanks, Joni. The Greek islands are our favourite destination for holidays. This one was taken during a trip into the mountains during a holiday when our daughter was working as a courier for the holiday company. Much as we’d like to live in Greece with its warmth and its friendly people, we are happy in our forest in the UK.
The other shot is taken from a small site dedicated to local miners. It’s about 3 miles from our home and overlooks parts of Gloucestershire and into the Malvern hills, another beautiful area within easy driving distance,
We had a spell of high temperatures here, but they’ve settled down to their usual summer level again now; comfortable for walking without a jacket! Enjoy your walks while you’re in lockdown. Keep safe and stay well.

      1. I have always wanted to go to Greece. I see the pictures of all the white houses that look like they are inside the hill tops and I just know I would fall in love with the place.

I am glad you love your place in the forest with your wife, it is so beautiful and peaceful looking. I am glad you two have such a gorgeous place to go. Walking keeps us young or so I keep telling myself.

Have a great weekend my friend, give my best to your wife and you two stay out of trouble. Love Joni

        1. Our walks keep us active and act as our spiritual uplift in this world so full of unpleasantness, Joni.
You’d love Greece. The people are lovely, the weather warm, the Mediterranean attractive and the food scrumptious!

          1. We did stay on the Mediterranean when we stayed in the Costa Del Sol. I feel in love with Madrid. I hope I get to visit Greece sometime with my husband, but I am blessed being safe here in NC with our little acre of wooded yard and peaceful life. I think we share that appreciation. It is important to enjoy the gift of beauty in our world and you two are in a marvelous place for it. Best to you my friend, we are off on our walk now. Love to you both, Joni

            1. We visited Spain only once, Joni. Took our 5 year old daughter at the time to Almeria, where we spent an interesting fortnight. Met a lovely couple from Belgium and Kate made friends instantly with their small son. Our best experience there was a visit to the Alhambra: a remarkable piece of architecture.

              1. How wonderful. We also visited the Alhambra with our daughter. It is truly amazing your right. It would take days really to do it justice. How lovely you have a daughter too. Sending hugs to you both. 🤗🤗 Joni Did you get a chance to go to the Prada? I could have spent a week there.

                1. Not familiar with the Prada, Joni. We did only the one trip, to the Alhambra. The rest of the time we spent by the pool, as Kate loves being in the water and this was her first trip abroad.

                  1. Sorry it is spelled Prado, no wonder you have never heard of it. The amazing Art Museum in Madrid, which was filled with such splendor. Our daughter was all about the water when she was little with her little water wings. Every place we ever stayed had to have a pool. They are such a gift aren’t they. Carolyn studied in Granada and was at the University of Madrid for her final year of her MS in International Political Economics. That has been our only trip to Europe I am sorry to say. I am glad you and your wife have traveled so extensively. Maybe we will get a chance again. Love 💕 Joni

                    1. I should’ve guessed at that name, Joni. We visited the Louvre in Paris and the Uffizi in Florence. Both world class galleries. In the Louvre we were part of a small tour with a guide. She was fabulous and took us to all the best locations. You’d need a full week to get the best experience, but we had only a few hours as part of a walking tour of the city. The Uffizi I booked online when we went to Florence for our 30th wedding anniversary in 2018. That was a different experience, with a lot of queuing and too many visitors to get a good look at the many fantastic works of art on display. Most of the visitors seemed intent on taking selfies with the paintings and sculptures behind them. We just wanted to view the works! Still, it was worth the time we spent there.
Of course, Europe is on our doorstep, so a lot easier to get to for us. Not sure we’ll get our holiday in Kos this year, though. Fingers crossed.
                      Hope you enjoyed your walk.

                    2. Wow the louvre I can’t imagine. Congratulations on your long marriage what a blessing. Sounds like a guide is a very good idea. You are right about the travel. It takes a lot out of me these days. I do hope you get your vacation my friend but only if the two of you can be safe. Fingers crossed. Love 💕 J
