This continuing series of posts depicts our beautiful world, encouraging viewers to share them and help save our unique home from human carelessness and indifference.
Today’s photo of a willow tree on the banks of the River Wye was taken some years ago on a visit to Tintern, a small village in Wales, where an ancient abbey stands beside the river. We spent a few hours roaming the grounds of the abbey, and then walked in a wooded area. As the sun descended, to later vanish behind the hill, it highlighted this lone tree, and I was fortunate enough to capture the moment from the Old Wireworks Tramway Bridge that takes pedestrians across the water into the woods.

The interplay of light, shadow and colour in this photo is stellar, Stuart. Such a beautiful picture!

Thanks, Noelle. I’ve always wished I could paint in reality, but I make do with painting with light instead.

Thank you for that, Noelle. My mother was a painter, quite gifted. I used to love to watch her paint landscapes on the rough surface that is the back of hardboard (she didn’t have the funds for canvas). Always fascinated me how she mixed the colours to match the natural world before her.
