Once again, it’s been far too long since I updated this aspect of my writing life. Yes, there have been things happening to prevent such notification, but I really should have been more aware of the passage of time.

No matter. Here we are.

The situation today is that I have completed the latest edit on the WIP. When I last reported, the word count was 130,480. Editing generally reduces the word count, so it’s no surprise the current length is 132,735.

The next edit will be delayed, as my annual break from all things digital is due to start in 13 days, and I always take a break between edits, to give the creative mind a break so I can look at the work through relatively fresh eyes. That next edit will therefore begin on my return to digital activity in early October.

At that point, I intend to examine the text for inclusion and exclusion of real-time events that impact on the fictional story. I have such items already prepared; it’s really just a matter of fitting them into the text so they appear as natural as possible. That’s actually quite a challenge, but I enjoy such processes.

This latest edit has been more to do with tone and mood, and I feel I’ve more or less settled those aspects now.

So, watch this space and I’ll let you know what I’m doing some time in October.
