Further Progress on the #WIP

Still working on the first edit of the initial draft that I finished, at 84,141 words, on 14th May. On 7th September I let you know I was well into the first edit of the WIP, when the word count had reached 57,341. I also promised to keep you up to date with progress at that time. So, before I start today’s session of editing, I thought I’d let you know I’m now up to chapter 32 at 80,840 words. At the current rate of adjustment, that suggests the eventual book length will be around 106,000 words, reasonably close to average for my long fiction.

The strange medical condition that drains my energy and upsets my balance remains a mystery, but at least the CT scan was returned as ‘normal’. ‘Normal’ a somewhat alarming judgment for an author, but certainly better than the numerous neurological conditions that might’ve been discovered. I’m currently awaiting a second GP appointment, arranged for early October, to see where we go from here.

In the meantime, I’ll try to keep you updated more regularly on the progress of the WIP, which still resides without a name on my system.

  1. So sorry to hear that you are still experiencing those symptoms, Stuart, but as you say, good that the CT scan is clear. Yes, what’s “normal?” I hope you get an answer soon (and a treatment or way of managing it).
