Oddities Observed On Outings #14

In this continuing series I’m looking at things seen when out walking. Some of these objects will be familiar to certain readers, but many are likely to be unfamiliar to most. I’m presenting those that caught my attention perhaps by their unusual placing, incongruity, idiosyncrasy, or simply their oddness.

This one shows a life-size figure of a cyclist. The figure is composed entirely of recycled litter and other objects abandonned in the area. The bike is constructed from recycled redundant or otherwise useless parts. I encountered it along one of the main cycle trails through the Forest of Dean a while ago.
I suspect it’s no longer in place. But I thought it a brilliant illustration of the way so many people are irresponsible enough to litter our countryside and place wildlife and the environment at significant risk.
I’ve no idea who constructed it, but I raise my hat to such generous enterprise.

    1. Thanks, Anon. I haven’t been top this part of the forest for a while, Forestry England were doing some extensive refurbishment to a dam at the site, so I don’t know if it’s still around. Like you, I hope so.

  1. Hi Stuart I wanted to tell you what a great post and how much I enjoyed it. Like you I feel a big hats off to the person who took the litter and created a piece of art. Thanks for sharing your cool finds with us my friend. Big hugs to you Valerie. 🤗🤗🤗
