My photos in this continuing series show our beautiful world in the hope they’ll encourage viewers to help save it from human carelessness.
I’m ignoring the time of year, as December here can be rather dull, but sticking to the UK, so you’ll find pictures from England and Wales (I last visited the truly stunning landscapes of Scotland way back around 1975, and my single trip to Ireland was to Northern Ireland when I worked as a press photographer, around 1973, long before digital images were possible).
Today’s photo shows the chalk cliffs of the East Riding of Yorkshire, the English county that once my home. This is part of a stretch running from Bridlington, a thriving seaside resort, north to the headland known as Flamborough Head.
On the north shore of this headland is a bird sanctuary called Bempton Cliffs, where you can watch Puffins, Kittiwakes, Guillemots and England’s largest colony of Gannets during Aril to July. Inland from the high cliffs you can see Skylarks, Linnets, Corn Buntings, Kestrels, and Barn Owls.
Not far south from where this shot was taken, is a nature reserve called Danes Dyke. It’s a fascinating place to wander in and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

More of my pictures appear in the Gallery.
If you’re looking for pictures for almost any purpose, you’ll find 2,500 large HD images on Picfair, which can be bought for a small sum as digital files, or as art quality prints on paper or canvas. My small portion of the fee helps maintain the gear and software quality digital photography demand. Thank you.

Lovely photo, Stuart. Those chalk cliffs are quite a sight.

Thanks, Lynette. A little way round the end of the headland is a pretty spectacular bird sanctuary where thousands of sea birds nest and breed.
