#ScenicSaturday 21st October 2023

My photos in this continuing series show our beautiful world. Maybe they’ll encourage viewers to help save it from human carelessness.
This month’s series is from our stay on the Greek island of Zakynthos, where we spent our 35th wedding anniversary. As with most of the Greek islands, tourism has altered the natural landscape a good deal. But there are still beautiful scenes here with minimal human content. This shot was taken on a walk through olive groves above the small village of Tragaki and shows the mountain range that covers most of the western side of the island, with the peaks of Spilia, Storngyli Korfi, Atheras, and Stanilou overlooking the wide agricultural plain of the eastern side.

Our walks were mostly along narrow country lanes and farm tracks. We encountered little traffic and were granted peaceful walks in the main. On this particular walk, we were adopted for the entire loop walk above the village by a local dog that seemed determined to act as our guide.

More of my pictures appear in the Gallery.
If you’re looking for pictures for almost any purpose, you’ll find 2,500 large HD images on Picfair, which can be purchased for a small sum as digital files, or as art quality prints on paper or canvas. My small portion of the fee helps me maintain the gear and software quality digital photography demands.

    1. It was, Lynette. Our ‘guide’ left his home as we passed and preceded us on our walk through the olive groves on the hill all the way round and back and then left us again when we passed his home on the way back. It was almost as if he was keeping us on the right track.
