#ScenicSaturday 23rd September 2023

My photos in this continuing series show our beautiful world. Maybe I can encourage viewers to help save it from human carelessness. Today’s photograph is from our trip to the Isle of Wight in September 2021, after a longish spell of lockdown due to Covid. The hotel was still recovering from that event and many of the staff members were new and inexperienced, which made for some interesting conversations. The island is reached primarily by ferries that also carry traveller’s cars. We took the one from Lymington, avoiding the city-based terminals at Southampton and Portsmouth. These cliffs we walked frequently from the hotel in Sandown. Fresh sea air and open countryside served us well for those. It’s a pleasant place, though, in common with many of England’s seaside locations, it has an air of neglect due, to some extent, to the effects of Covid, Brexit, and our London-centric, elitist Government that has been in power for too long. At least the weather served us well for our rambles.

Feel free to comment, like, and share the post so the joy of natural beauty is spread to as many people as possible. That will help in the fight against the rapidly approaching climate emergency and species extinctions.
I post every Saturday here, but also post a picture of natural beauty at the end of each day, with the hashtag , on FaceBook and Twitter. Join me there and comment, share and like if you wish.

More of my pictures appear in the Gallery.
If you’re looking for pictures for almost any purpose, you’ll find 2,500 large HD images on Picfair, which can be purchased for a small sum as digital files, or as art quality prints on paper or canvas. The small fee helps me maintain the gear and software quality digital photography demands.
Please bear in mind I will be offline when this post comes online, so I will respond to any comments on my return to the mad frenzy of the digital world in early October.

  2. Beautifully tranquil picture, Stuart. It has been many years since I visited the Isle of Wight.

Yes, I’m surprised your government hasn’t changed hands now, especially since there’s been so much party turmoil (or so it seems from here). I would like our government to change hands (Trudeau has been PM for long enough) but we have no viable alternatives; I definitely won’t be voting for the Conservative Party as it’s being controlled by some seriously delusional hard right-wingers.

    Have a good weekend.
