My photos in this continuing series show our beautiful world. Maybe I can encourage viewers to help save it from human carelessness. Today, brings a photograph of a lone tree standing in arid ground and giving shade for sheep on the Greek island of Rhodes. Our walk, in September 2017, took us from Pefkos to Lindos to view the fascinating structure called the Acropolis, where ancient Greeks worshipped even more ancient gods and goddesses invented, as is usual for such divinities, by leaders to provide a structure they could use to control their populations. The route took us past olive groves often with very old trees still bearing fruit, down narrow roads where we encountered no traffic, along rocky beaches where the warm Mediterranean sometimes lapped at our feet as we sneaked past steep cliffs along narrow stretches. It was our last visit to this island, which was the first place I visited overseas.

That’s a beautiful scene, Stuart. Very representative of that area. Have a good weekend.

Thanks, Noelle. It always staggers me that nature can find a way to create life out of a landscape that seems so barren!
