My photos here show how beautiful is our world. I hope to encourage viewers to help save it from our carelessness. This one shows the eroding effect of wave power on the strong rocky cliffs of the Greek island of Thassos over eons. Imagine how much more of this island would have been eaten by the powerful hungry sea if the level of that restless water were higher. It is already rising and will rise further in the coming decades. The sooner we all act to first reduce and then reverse our destructive effect on the climate, the less likely are some islands to completely disappear beneath those relentless waves. It is already too late for some, of course, but if we all act together, we can at least prevent the loss of many more.

Thanks, Lynette. The coasts of most Greek islands have spectacular areas. It’s one of the reasons I love to visit there.

That’s good, Noelle. Mind you, not a place you can swim – that’s further along the coast!

It’s like that in Maine, too – not a lot of beaches but the coast is spectacular.
