    1. When you look at the plant, you wonder how it was that an extract was discovered to be an ideal treatment for skin, Lynette. A case of nature playing a joke, perhaps?

    1. Thanks, Joni. The shot was one of several I took whilst visiting one of Valerie’s relatives in London. It was in a pot in the back garden. I’d never seen aloe vera before and was surprised to discover it looked like this, given it’s extracts are used for skin care!

        1. Thanks, Joni. Amazing what 197 years of experience can do, eh? But, seriously, I love setting myself the challenge of making things look interesting, intriguing, even mystical and moody. And they say the camera never lies: never was a more false statement made!

                  1. You are a sweetheart for saying so. That means a lot to me coming from a successful and entertaining author whose publisher can’t wait to get your next book. My gift comes from my mother. She never published anything but she did encourage me to write and bought me poetry books and the last two years of her life she was sober. She had started a book and her writing was brilliant. I have those pages and they are precious to me. Thank you my treasured friend. ❤️

    1. One of those wonderful instances of nature being deceptive, Brenda. The chemicals extracted from the plant are, as you say, used for skin treatments, and they’re generally sold as ‘gentle aloe vera’. But the plant itself looks far from gentle.
      It’s not going to overrun my garden, by the way. The picture was taken in a friend’s garden and the plant was in a pot.
