New growth surrounds an ancient tree, not yet ready to burst its buds.

These photographs from our local forest will finish at the end of April, by which time I’ll have posted almost 1,000 of my pictures in this series. For the last few days, I’m adding others from my collection from the forest, and one other each day to show more of the world and its wonders.

From May onwards, I intend to replace this daily series with single photos from my professional files, as the pictures have brought joy to many. The new series will be a real mix of subjects I’ve enjoyed picturing over the years. No captions. No information. I hope you’ll enjoy them, comment where you wish, and continue to share them with your online friends and followers.
Sunset on Crete.
All photographs here are my own, unless otherwise credited. You can find more of my pictures here. And there’s a small sample under the ‘Gallery’ tab, top of this page.

It’s been a pleasure, Brenda. But all such things have a natural lifespan and I think this one is reeaching the end.

What a beautiful collection! And that ancient tree – a demonstration of the beauty to be found in age.

Thank you, Lynette. I love old trees; they epitomise survival and persistence, and there’s an underlying hope that they also hold a type of wisdom in their ancient boughs.

What a lovely walk you’ve taken us on, Stuart. And that sunset is definitely a two-glass of wine one. I will miss seeing the photos each day, so I hope you will do it at least once a week!

Thanks, Noelle.
There’ll still be a daily phot, it just won’t be of the forest most of the time. I have several thousand professional photos and I’m going to display those instead, one at a time. Lots of different subjects.
