These pictures are here to entertain, bring joy, and, if you wish, inspire you to create something with words or images. Whether that is a poem, story, play, novel, memory, essay, painting, drawing, sculpture, or another photograph is entirely up to you. But don’t feel obliged: you can simply enjoy the pictures. I’ve deliberately left the image untitled here to avoid directing anyone, but, if you feel the need to know, you’ll find the original with its title, here on my Picfair site.
If you create something from the pictorial prompt, I’d love to know. You’re welcome to post a link to your work in the comments section, or the work itself, if you wish. If you use my image in your own work, I’d appreciate a credit in the form of a link to this post. That way, more people will see both our creations.
The idea here is to have fun and get our work known as widely as possible.
New to my website? Here’s the history of these daily picture posts. I began the series at the start of the Covid pandemic in the UK, to give pleasure in the outdoors to people confined to their homes by illness. Once the infection rate calmed here, I continued it simply to spread joy and pleasure. This new direction seems an obvious move for me as a writer who gleans as much enjoyment from words as from pictures.
From time to time, I may include something I’ve written, inspired by the image.
If you’re interested, you can view more of my pictures in my Gallery or beyond.

That’s a fantastic picture – looks almost like a diorama.

Perceptive of you, Lynette. A small amount of digital modification produced that effect, which improved the unedited image.

I also thought of newly mowed hay. Although I probably am allergic now, I love the smell. Thanks for posting.

New mown hay, Brenda. One of those evocative smells that brings usually happy memories.

It really is – and the view will never change because it’s common property – I’m pretty sure we have the best view in our development.

Knowing your surrounds will never be built on is a real benefit. We live in a location where building is very unlikely due to the topography and the fact that the forest is currently publicly owned. Let’s hope it stays that way for both of us, eh?

Lovely contrast. If that field was newly mown, the smell must have been heavenly.

It was newly mown, Noelle, and, yes, the smell was wonderful!
