    1. Thanks, Joni. This is one of a whole series of photographs I’ve taken of parts of trees that bear signs of wear and tear. There’s so much variety in the way they look, and I love natural patterns, designs and abstracts.

    1. It has a slight air of the tortured victim about it, Lynette. Stripped of its protective bark and left to deal with whatever the world decided to throw at it. But, as I recall, at the time of posing for my picture, still alive.

        1. The utter persistence of plant life has always impressed me, Lynette. Plants seem to survive in the most unlikely places and circumstances. I suspect we could learn a lot from them.

  1. There are many words to describe this wood, and experienced is only one of them. There are days that when we get up in the morning and feel like, and probably look like that wood! and It has seen many days and experience many things, Oh! the tales it could tell! It is beautiful and mysterious, with its age and interesting coloring. Great shot! Thanks for posting.

    1. Thanks, Brenda. I can’t recall exactly where in the forest I encountered this particular example of aged wood. Like you, I wonder what tales it could tell if only we could somehow communicate with it.
