Today’s Picture: 13 Oct 20

Hints of autumn among the deciduous trees, and the bracken is dying back.

Our walk today took us along one of our favourite routes. A large tree had fallen across the path, possibly overnight, and formed a barrier to less able walkers, so I took photos and reported it to the Forestry Commission when we returned home. They are generally quite good and will probably do whatever’s necessary to re-open the path in the next few days. We were able to continue our walk by climbing over the fallen trunk, and spent some time in a part of the forest we always enjoy. The autumn colours are spreading now. Expected frosts over the weekend will probably hasten this process and bring new colour to the trees.

So, for this post, I’ve included a shot of another path we used and one of the fallen tree.

The tree across the path.

If you’re visiting here, please be generous to those who can’t escape their own four walls at present, and share this widely with them on social media, so they can enjoy it. It will also reach more people and hopefully remind them what a wonderful place this world is. Perhaps that might help restore some love and respect for nature and slow down our destructive urge to ruin the environment. Thank you.
