Today’s Picture: 4 Oct 20

A walk down a forest valley.

After 36 hours of non-stop rain, we managed a walk this afternoon. But still rather dull. So, to brighten your day, here’s an earlier picture of the forest, taken when the sun was shining.

If you’re visiting here, please be generous to those who can’t escape their own four walls at present, and share this widely with them on social media, so they can enjoy it. Thank you.

    1. It is, Avni. I worry that too many people have lost touch with the natural world; one of the reasons we, as a species, are racing toward extinction, I’m afraid. So I’m spreading the joy of natural beauty in the hope of helping people see it again.

    1. At times, Victoria, with the bracken taller than us, the bramble briars triffid-like lurking in the undergrowth, this English forest can sometimes seem a little like a jungle. But we love it!

    1. Thanks, Joni. Today’s walk took us again down this particular track through the narrow and steep valley. Autumn colours are starting to encroach on the green now. I’ll probably post a picture later on.

      1. Oh I bet it is beautiful right now in the valley. I am looking forward to your picture today. You two be careful not to slip in the mud. I am finally feeling like my healthy self. That much steroids in the system does all kinds of things including jacking up blood pressure. I am better and feeling like my old self. You two have an amazing day. Love to y’all. 🤗💕❤️Joni

        1. Glad you’re feeling better, Joni. I have experienced steroids, so I understand some of the issues. But, hopefully, they’ve reduced the inflamation that’s been causing the pain.
We’re always careful in the wet. We know the tracks we can use safely and those to avoid in the mud. Today, we climbed one of the steeper tracks, knowing it would be worth the effort, and confident the ground underfoot was firm enough for progress. I’m going to post the promised picture in a short while, once I’ve caught up on today’s social media stuff.
You keep safe and stay well.

          1. You are so kind. Yes they have significantly helped my neck and shoulders. Yes, I am glad you both careful I have climbed so mountains in WA a State and in Hawaii and I just know you have to be careful. I am sure you are very careful with your wife along. You both are in great shape. People need to walk more in the States. When we went to Spain and spent almost a month we could count the over weight people on one hand. I am not judging anyone either. I just think walking and even simple exercise as you are getting older like myself makes all the difference in the world. I will take care. Sending you two my love. 🤗💕Joni

              1. You can count on it my friend. We are and have been exercising for as long as we first met. I can’t do insanity anymore which is what we did for years but it isn’t worth the price I pay. We are also big believers in stretching as I am guessing you two are as well. Love ❤️ you guys. Joni 💕❤️🤗

back. Have an inspiring day my friend. Hugs 💕❤️🤗to you both Joni
