Thanks, Lynette. People swim in the river here (I wouldn’t), and lots of canoeists paddle by on their routes further downriver. This shot was taken from a small public area used as a tiny car park and a picnic area with tables and benches. Sometimes it’s quite busy, but much of the time we can be entirely alone here.

Is it too cold for swimming? Or do you not trust the water quality? It certainly looks like an ideal canoeing river.

Too cold for me. Lot’s of people do swim though, Lynette. The currents can be a little unpredictable, too. You see the little gravel island to the left, with the swimmer wrapped in a blue towel? That island completely disappears in winter, as the river often floods. It carries rainwater down from the Welsh mountains down to the Severn estuary. We lie on the land between the two rivers and our small brook feed into the River Wye close to where this shot was taken.
