Today’s Pictures: 7 Aug 20

In the pine forest shaded from the summer sun.

For those can’t get outdoors to enjoy nature at present, this series is for you. I’m aiming to brighten the days by posting pictures of natural beauty. I’ve been posting a couple of pics each day, but that’s now becoming a little demanding on my time (and my library of images!), so I’m going back to posting just one picture of natural beauty each day for your enjoyment.

As a writer, I’m usually working on a book, short story, or a blog post. Sometimes all three. At present, I’m about to start the final edit of my new novel (untitled at the moment), and I’m producing blog posts fairly regularly.

As a photographer, I have a growing gallery on Picfair, which you can find here, if you’re interested. Currently, there are over 800 images on the site. I try to add a few each week.

If you’re a visitor to this site able to go where you like, perhaps you’ll do something for those less fortunate by sharing this widely, so others can enjoy it? Thank you.

  1. It’s one of our favourite parts of the forest, Noelle. Accessed via a pretty steep path, but once there, on a gently sloping plateau. Lovely!

  3. Yes, I’m not surprised that posting new photos every day is a bit taxing! But thank you for sharing your lovely forest and all of your other photos. I feel like I know the Forest of Dean a bit now.

I hope the writing is going well. 🙂

    1. I’ll continue to post one picture each day, Lynette, but they won’t necessarily be of the forest from now. But they’ll still be outdoors, since that’s the point of this series; to share nature with those who can’t access it in person.
Glad I’ve been able to give you a flavour of our forest.
Today I’ll be starting the final edit of the book, which means I read aloud from a printed version, make the necessary changes, and then pass on a freshly-printed chapter to Valerie, who acts as my beta reader. She’s good with English, has a brilliant memory, and spots inconsistencies I miss!

  4. Stuart I enjoy and appreciate your photography of so many of the various places you have shared with us. The forest, I could never grow weary of that, it is simply too beautiful. I love the mosses and ferns they are sublime.

Hope you two are both wonderful and that you are enjoying your walks filled with such beautiful surroundings.

Sending my love to you both. Hugs 🤗 Joni

    1. Thank you so much, Joni. It’s wonderful to be appreciated. Today, we have high temperatures for the UK – about 28C here, and humid, so we took our walk this morning, before it became too warm.
We both love our forest, and feel so priveleged to live in an area of natural beauty. It seems only sensible to share it.
      Keep safe and stay well.
