Progress on the WIP: #SciFi in the Making.

Stu edits
The final edit: reading aloud from a printed copy.

Well, that’s it! The book is with my publisher. At 67,269 words, it’s the shortest of my novels. But it’ll be a damned good read (not that I’m in any way biased, you understand).

The final part of the editing process for me was a read-through, aloud, from a print run. Many authors neglect this essential part of the process. It’s hard work on the voice and throat, but catches so many things missed by silent reads and even online editing programs like Prowritingaid. Took me 8 hours to do the reading and another hour or so to correct the document afterwards.

This is intended to be the final book in the Generation Mars series and makes a great conclusion to the ongoing story. Although it’s the third book in a series, it can be read as a stand-alone story.

For now, I’ll have to leave you in the dark about the title. And the cover will be revealed over the next few weeks. So keep in touch here to discover what the finished book will look like and whether the title follows in the run of the other two: Blood Red Dust, and War Over Dust.

By the way, I’m still offering free digital copies of Blood Red Dust and War Over Dust in return for honest reviews. So, if you’d like to be one of those wonderful readers who help authors get their work noticed, please click the ‘Contact’ tab at the top of the page. Complete the short form with your email address, and let me know whether you’d prefer a .Mobi, .PDF, or .ePub file and I’ll send you the book. Thank you. I won’t bother you with anything else, honest!

    1. Thanks, Tom. I’m improving every day. Fairly routine surgery, but leaves you a bit sore and lacking in energy. Got to drive for the first time today, so that’s useful.
As for the book, I enjoyed writing it. Let’s hope people enjoy reading it. All the details will emerge here as the book goes through the usual processes (assuming, of course, my publisher likes it!).
